PRISM Help Directory
For customers, this web site is a resource providing several kinds of regulatory information relating to MSA products; for MSA associates, it replaces the MSA Hazardous Materials Handbook. The site is formatted so that the "Index" is always available on the left side of the user's screen. It contains several "navigation buttons" and three additional "hyperlinks." For help on a specific navigation button or hyperlink, please select one of the following:
NAVIGATION BUTTONS:
1. Prism Home Page
2. Hazmat Transport Info
3. DOT Special Permits
4. Emergency Response Guide
5. MSDS/CIS Information
6. Recycling and Disposal
Information
7. Links
HYPERLINKS:
1. Recent Updates
2. Help
3. MSA Home Page
NAVIGATION BUTTONS:
This page is the starting point of PRISM. Be sure to check PRISM Home regularly for important MSA regulatory updates.
This navigation button provides
U.S. DOT, IATA / ICAO, and IMDG hazardous material (dangerous goods) shipping
information. By selecting this button, users will gain access to a
page containing two tools: a search field and a link to ATO tables.
First, using the search field, type the number for which you require Hazardous Material information and select the "submit" button. The system will then retrieve complete hazardous material shipping information for that part number. |
The second tool is a table of ATO numbers. Since ATO numbers are long and complex (e.g., people sometimes put the dashes in the wrong place), the standard search field is not a practical means for retrieving ATO hazardous materials information. Our solution is a link entitled "CLICK HERE if the MSA part number contains letters or is Assemble-To-Order." This link appears directly below the search field. Upon clicking this link, the system will direct you to a table of each ATO that has the potential to contain hazardous material. On the table, find the ATO number that corresponds to your product. Next, select the link entitled "click here" in the right-most column of the ATO you chose. The result page will then appear, providing complete hazardous materials shipping information. |
The DOT Special Permits Navigation Button provides access to a library of DOT Special Permits required to ship certain MSA products. To retrieve a Special Permit, just click on the DOT-SP number, and the Special Permit will appear on your screen in PDF document form. If your machine will not view PDFs, you can load the software that supplies this capability by choosing the "Get Acrobat" icon at the bottom of the Special Permits page. Go to DOT Special Permits.
4. ERG PAGES
This button contains the Emergency
Response Guidebook pages that apply to MSA products (by the way, you can find the ERG
page# for your product by choosing the
Hazmat Transport Info" button and viewing the
results page for that product). To retrieve the ERG page, select the "ERG
Pages" button and just click on the page number you need. The result will appear in PDF
form. If your machine will
not view PDFs, you can load the software that supplies this capability by choosing
the "Get Acrobat" icon at the bottom of the "ERG Pages"
page. Go to ERG Pages.
The MSD Directory button provides access to a database of Material Safety Data Sheets and Content Information Sheets for MSA products. To obtain an MSDS or CIS, go to the appropriate table on the MSDS / CIS page and select "Click Here" in the row corresponding to the part number and product for which you are looking. A list of part numbers will then appear. The documents are presented in PDF format. If your machine will not view PDFs, you can load the software that supplies this capability by choosing the "Get Acrobat" icon at the bottom of the "MSDS Directory" page page. Go to MSDS Directory.
6. RECYCLING / DISPOSAL INFORMATION
The next button takes you to recycling and disposal information. This page provides information to MSA customers who frequently request advice on how to dispose of MSA products. We included this link in anticipation of our Internet launch next year. Go to Recycling / Disposal Information.
7. LINKS
The final button provides access to a list of different websites that may be of use to people who ship hazardous materials. To view the list of pages for which links are provided, select "Links" on the bottom of the start page. Go to Links.
HYPERLINKS:
The first hyperlink leads to a list of recent updates and changes to the web site. We included a list of updates so that you can log-on and determine if the shipping requirements have recently changed for any products you ship. Go to Recent Updates.
2. HELP
The Help hyperlink leads users to this index of help topics.
3. MSA HOME
This final hyperlink returns users to the MSA Homepage.
